Tasmania Distillery honours a centuries old tradition, the production of a single malt whisky.

In Tasmanian, the tradition dates back to 1822 when the first distillery was established in the young colony, then called Van Diemens Land. The distillery contains exhibits from these times. Memorabilia and artefacts from Tasmania's Distilling past, including possibly the oldest still in Australia, featured in a fascinating showcase from yesteryear and now proudly displayed on the premise. Today modern technology is combined with an ancient craft, using an 1860's design Alambic Charentais Pot Still to produce Single Malt Whisky.

Whisky is produced at the distillery using the purest mountain water and one of the worlds best brewing Malts. Franklin Barley, which is grown in Tasmania, was specially developed for its exceptional characteristics, making it suitable for whisky production.

Here in Tasmania we are extremely fortunate to have been endowed with all the essential components, which together allow the creation of a wonderful single malt whisky.
