Inchgower |
Testing notes: Colour: Pale gold. Nose: An almost chocolatey spiciness, then sweet notes like edible seaweed and finally a whiff of saltier sea character. Overall, dry and complex. Flavour: Light to medium. Smooth. Starts sweet and malty, with lots of flavour developing, eventually becoming drier and salty. Finish: Very salty, lingering appetisingly on the tongue |

Inchgower lies
near the fishing town of Buckie, and its whisky is less of a Speyside malt
in character than a coastal one. To the palate expecting a more flowery,
elegant Speyside malt, this one can seem assertive, or even astringent, in
its saltiness. With familiarity, that can become addictive. A lovely,
sustaining dram after a stroll by the sea or a day's fishing. |
