TESTING NOTES:
Colour
Deep amber.
Nose
A rich and robust whisky, there is an initial burst of honey, toffee
apples, cloves and oak tannins. A smell reminiscent of the Speyside
countryside follows with heather fragranced soap, straw and mown grass,
along with linseed oil and a hint of peat smoke.
With water the fragrance of wine notes emerge as grapes and lemongrass.
Heavier notes follow, detected as the waxiness of linseed oil and leather
and a slight peaty earthiness.
Taste
Smooth, dry and peppery with tangy citrus fruits. With water, there is
more wine followed by the freshness of gentle eucalyptus that develops
into a deeper oaky nuttiness. The texture is chewing and mouthcoating with
the peppery astringency of oak tannins.
Finish
The finish is long and dry with a lasting oaky toastiness.
