Distillery startades 1893 och ligger på sluttningen av Knockhill nära
floden Isla. 1998 byttes namnet till namnet An Cnoc som betyder "kullen".
Ett skäl till namnbytet vara att undvika förväxling med Knockando.
Appearance: Amber Nose (Straight): Medium intensity; medium complexity. Smoky with considerable nose prickle. Citric, lemony notes, sweet like mead. Deep honey notes in the background.
Nose (Dilute): Honey and lemon in the foreground; fruit pulp (plums, soft apples, oranges) in the middle. Faint waxed hessian in the background (honeycomb?)
Flavour: Sweet start, mouth filling, even mouth coating (viscous) but not cloying. Smooth. Complex nutty/fruity finish. Bitterish, medium to long finish but not unpleasant. Warning: complex.
