Lochindaal – 10 Year – 43 %

On the other side of the loch, and nearly opposite Bowmore, is Lochindaal. It is six miles from the hotel, and situated in the heart of what is called the "Garden of Islay”. Lochindaal is really an arm of the sea, expanding into the Bay of Laggan, and terminating at the Point of Rhynns on the west, and the Maol-na-Ho on the east, where it forms the Bay of Laggan.

Lochindaal Founded in 1829
Lochindaal, which in Gaelic translates to “dividing loch”, describes the sea loch, which separates Islay in two. It is additionally the original name of the 1829 distillery, which later became the Port Charlotte Distillery, and will reopen under that name again in 2009, and ultimately under the Bruichladdich banner.
